| Ronald William "Ron" Howard is an American film director and an actor. Howard first came to prominence as an actor starring in the 1960s and 1970s films. Having quit his career as an actor, he has directed plenty of films, including the scandalous blockbuster The Da Vinci Code, and its loud sequel, Angels & Demons. The movie is based on the novel written by Dan Brown, the author of The Da Vinci Code which made the humankind split into two groups - its supporters and opponents, inclusive of the Roman Catholic Church. Although The Da Vinci Code was banned in plenty of countries, a considerable number of viewers around the world have watched the film. Angels & Demons uses the idea of a historical rivalry between the Catholic Church and scientific knowledge pictured in The Da Vinci Code movie. The plot of the film Angels & Demons gives prominence the quest of Harvard University iconologist Robert Langdon to uncover the enigmas of a powerful secret society known as the Illuminati. The Vatican faces a threat when the top four cardinals to supersede the recently deceased Pope are abducted by members of the Illuminati devoted to scientific truth. The Church is told that each cardinal will be killed one per hour starting at 8 pm, culminating with an antimatter bomb that is to detonate underneath St Peter's Cathedral at midnight destructing the sacred city. To deal with this terrifying jeopady, the Church calls upon the services of historian and iconologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who is knowledgeable about the Illuminati. He is put to work straight away, rushing to find the kidnapped cardinals by deciphering clues, symbols and other historical facts. Robert Langton accompanied by physicist Vittoria tries to reveal the mysterious decease of the Pope. The views of Rome in the film are splendid and picturesque. The watcher has a chance to walk along the streets of Rome and visit the most prominent architectural and cultural sites together with the characters. The film does well to engage interest through its explanations of historical facts and the inside workings of the Vatican. The plot keeps the viewer engaged and interested until the very end of the film. The plot unfolds with unexpected twists and turns that leave the watcher thrilled. |
